The best way to appreciate all the facets of the Maldives and it’s amazing landscape, is to spend a week or two cruising around the islands on a liveaboard. Designed for scuba enthusiasts, liveaboards or safari ships, cruise around the islands and atolls, allowing scuba divers to dive in many different places throughout their trip. Usually, the liveaboards embark on 2-3 scuba dives each day, as well as night dives, cultural visits to island communities, sunset picnics on deserted islands and shopping trips to Male.
Island Safari 2 Royal Liveaboard
Liveaboards vary in size, shape and price, meaning that there is something for every budget and taste. All are offered on an all-inclusive basis, including all meals and snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. All the liveaboard ships are accompanied by dive Dhonis, from which the actual scuba diving is practiced. These boats are equipped with all of the state of the art equipment to ensure comfortable and safe diving.
Owing to the sometimes strong currents of the Maldives, scuba holidays on liveaboards are recommended for divers who have already logged at least 30 dives.

However, you can find a little Maldives nightlife at most of the resorts, which usually have at least a couple of bars and some have nightclubs where you can while away the evening listening to great music, sipping exotic tropical cocktails and enjoying some of the most civilised company in the world.

Getting There and Away
Most visitors to the Maldives of course arrive by airplane into the international airport of Male, from where they take a water-taxi or sea-plane to their resort or hotel. In the case of liveaboard guests, the liveaboards collect guests from the airport and embark on the cruise immediately.
Another option for visiting the Maldives is to come on a cruise liner, where you would stay in the Maldives for a few days and then continue on your cruise. For more information on transport to and from the Maldives, click on one of the following links:
