Many couples on the brink of divorce may cringe at the idea of spending two weeks on a remote desert island with their husband.  Indeed, many couples choose to spend time apart in an effort to patch up their marriage.

Indian Travel Company Offers “Divorce Packages”

However, one Indian Tour Company has begun offering “Divorce Packages” to the Maldives, with the goal of saving their customers’ marriages and creating everlasting love.  Couples embarking on these “Divorce Packages” will be joined on their holiday by a Marriage Counsellor who will give them guidance during their trip to paradise.

Indian Divorce Package Holiday Concept Could Catch On

If the concept is successful in India, a country with a divorce rate significantly lower than that of the UK or the USA, the “Divorce Package Holiday” concept could catch on around the world, and there is no doubt an enormous market for it in most developed nations.  Currently, the divorce rate in India is less than 1 in every 100, while in the United Kingdom it is almost 1 in every 2.

How does Divorce Tourism Work?

The idea behind so-called “Divorce Tourism”, is that the couples have the opportunity to go on a second honeymoon and remember why they fell in love in the first place.  Destinations like the Maldives are perfect for such a trip.  The pioneer company behind the new concept is KV Tours and Travels from Mumbai, India.  Mr. Thakker, a representative of KV Tours, believes that a seven day trip away from the distractions of daily life, including family members, is enough to rekindle a dying marriage.

Divorce Tourism Criticized

Critics of the idea say that while a holiday could help save a divorce in some cases, there are other cases where it simply won’t help and could even make matters worse.

LOL, what a crazy idea! But, if it rekindles that fire that was dying in a marriage, I guess it could work :-D
