The best way to appreciate all the facets of the Maldives and it’s amazing landscape, is to spend a week or two cruising around the islands on a liveaboard. Designed for scuba enthusiasts, liveaboards or safari ships, cruise around the islands and atolls, allowing scuba divers to dive in many different places throughout their trip. Usually, the liveaboards embark on 2-3 scuba dives each day, as well as night dives, cultural visits to island communities, sunset picnics on deserted islands and shopping trips to Male.

The Maldives is definitely not the ideal destination if you are looking for late-night bars and discotheques that stay open until the early hours. If that’s what you are looking for, you should think about choosing another destination. However, you can find a little Maldives nightlife at most of the resorts, which usually have at least a couple of bars and some have nightclubs where you can while away the evening listening to great music, sipping exotic tropical cocktails and enjoying some of the most civilised company in the world.
